Los Angeles Thieves
LA Thieves are the favorites and our top pick to win the World Championship. After holding their ground at DreamHack and emerging as back-to-back Major 3 and 4 winners, they ended the Regular Season at the top of the CDL standings with a neat 131-55 record (70.4% win rate). Beyond that, the team’s collective performance has been nothing short of incredible!
Despite losing to Miami Heretics in the Upper Bracket of Major 4, they made a deep run by beating Ultra and OpTic 3-1 and sweeping Heretics 3-0 in a revenge match. In the Grand Final, they took down FaZe 4-2, highlighted by a cracked five-piece clip by HyDra, a perfect snapshot of LA Thieves’ dominance right now!
Team roster:
- Daniel “Ghosty” Rothe
- Dylan “Envoy” Hannon
- Paco “HyDra” Rusiewiez
- Thomas “Scrappy” Ernst
- Shane “ShAnE” McKerral (Coach)
Atlanta FaZe
For the first time ever, Atlanta FaZe isn’t the top seed going into the Championship Weekend. That said, they’re still more dangerous than ever! With both Major 1 and 2 titles still on lock, FaZe have already proven they can perform when it matters. And while LA Thieves stole the second half of the season, FaZe aren’t done yet.
The Major 4 Grand Finals offered a great preview of what to expect. After going down 0-2, they mounted an incredible reverse sweep to level the series 2-2. Although they couldn’t close it out all the way, their run reminded everyone that FaZe don’t fold. Besides, with a strong 119-64 record, FaZe should make a quick pass to the Grand Final at Champs.
Team roster:
- Tyler “aBeZy” Pharris
- McArthur “Cellium” Jovel
- Chris “Simp” Lehr
- Zack “Drazah” Jordan
- James “Crowder” Crowder (Coach)
Miami Heretics
Despite seeding 5th with an 82-83 record, Miami Heretics are an undisputed dark horse at Champs. They’ve had solid upsets and made insane performances this year, taking down giants Toronto Ultra and Atlanta FaZe en route to a top-four finish at Major 3. They also secured a 5-0 run in the Major 4 Qualifiers.
More recently, they handed LA Thieves their first loss in Dallas, knocking them into the Lower Bracket before falling 0-3 in a revenge match. Even so, their ability to challenge the big dogs is undeniable. With playmakers like MettalZ leading the charge and the acquisition of SupeR paying off, the all-Spanish roster could be the surprise story of Championship Weekend.
Team roster:
- Adrian “MettalZ” Serrano
- José “ReeaL” Fernández
- David “RenKoR” Isern
- Diego “SupeR” Escudero
- Alejandro “Lucky” López (Substitute)
- Jorge “MethodZ” Bancells (Coach)
Toronto Ultra
While a slip-up at Major IV and an unlucky bracket saw Toronto Ultra finish 5th-6th, the home team has every reason to bounce back and secure a top-four finish at Champs. It’s not far from reach, having ended the Regular Season as the 3rd seed with a 30-16 match record (65.2% win rate).
On paper, Toronto has a 67.3% average win probability according to CDL Metrics, placing them well ahead of most contenders. However, with rising threats like Miami Heretics and established powerhouses like FaZe and LA Thieves in the field, the path to the podium won’t be easy.
Team roster:
- Tobias “CleanX” Jønsson
- Jamie “Insight” Craven
- Ben “Beans” McMellon
- Joseph “JoeDeceives” Romero
- Ryan “Flux” Oldfield (Coach)
