Deadlock boasts 156 unique items, giving players practically endless ways to customize their heroes. Besides raw stats, items offer powerful passive and active effects that can dramatically boost your damage, survivability, abilities, or utility, with many upgrades complementing specific heroes and playstyles.

In this guide, we’ll break down everything you need to know about the different Deadlock items, from item categories and inventory slots to their attributes, passive and active effects, tiers, prices, refund rules, investment bonuses, and more.

Deadlock Items Overview and Slot System

As of July 25, 2026, there are 156 standard items in Deadlock.

Each item can be purchased with Souls at the Curiosity Shop and is divided across three categories: 53 in Weapon (improves gunplay), 54 in Vitality (provides sustain), and 49 in Spirit (strengthens abilities). An additional 17 Legendary items are available exclusively in Street Brawl mode.

Items can be further subdivided into four tiers, with higher-tier items costing more Souls and offering progressively stronger effects and upgrades. Here’s an overview of the different item categories, including how many are available in each tier and their respective base Soul costs:

Item CategoryTier 1(800 Souls)Tier 2(1,600 Souls)Tier 3(3,200 Souls)Tier 4(6,400 Souls)Total
Weapon716191153
Vitality815141754
Spirit812131649
Total23434644156

All Deadlock characters have nine base item slots but can unlock three extra slots (one for each enemy Walker destroyed), for a maximum of 12 equippable items. Importantly, all item slots are universal, allowing you to hold any combination of items in your inventory, depending on your hero’s build.

You can inspect all Deadlock items directly in the Curiosity Shop, located in (i) your team’s spawn, (ii) near each lane’s Guardian, and (iii) in the underground tunnels near the mid-boss. There’s also a shop inside The Atrium of the Hideout. Simply hover over any item to view its details.

Deadlock Weapon Items: Effects and Use Cases

Weapon items are designed to strengthen a hero’s gunplay, offering upgrades to weapon damage, fire rate, ammo capacity, bullet velocity, and other gun-related stats.

Some items also grant passive or active effects, such as multi-shot, ricocheting bullets, or on-hit debuffs (e.g., movement slow, bullet resistance, etc.). For example, Toxic Bullets causes your bullets to build up a bleed effect that deals 1.9% of the target’s max HP per second for 4s. It also reduces the bleeding target’s healing by 35%.

Weapon items are especially powerful on heroes like Drifter or Vindicta that rely heavily on their gun for dealing damage. You can view all the Deadlock Weapon items under the designated Fairfax Artillery Bought and Sold category of the Curiosity Shop.

Deadlock Vitality Items: Survivability Boosts

Vitality items primarily improve a hero’s sustain and survivability by increasing health and regeneration, providing barriers, granting bullet and spirit resistance, buffing healing and lifesteal, or reducing the impact or duration of debuffs through stat bonuses, passive effects, and active abilities.

For example, Divine Barrier provides +10% ability range and +1.5 out-of-combat regen. Its active ability can also be cast on yourself or an ally to instantly purge non-stun debuffs while granting a 600-damage barrier and +2.8m move speed for 6s, helping the target evade danger or turn a fight in their favor.

Vitality items can be purchased from the Mystic Pharmaceutical Stores category of the Curiosity Shop. They’re great for tanks and frontliners like Silver or Billy, as the items can help make your hero more durable in fights, improve health recovery, or even counter specific types of damage and crowd control.

Deadlock Spirit Items: Ability-Focused Power

Spirit items are intended to improve a hero’s ability and spirit damage. This includes increasing a hero’s spirit power, adding ability charges, reducing cooldowns, extending ability durations, and improving other ability-related stats through passive and active effects.

For example, Duration Extender lets you imbue an ability of your choice with a +22% ability duration buff, boosting the spell’s effectiveness over time. Another item, Refresher, has an active that lets you reset the cooldown of all abilities and restore all charges, allowing you to immediately re-cast them.

Deadlock Spirit items are available from the Curiosity Catalog No. 777 category of the Curiosity Shop. Depending on your build, they can help abilities deal more damage, become more spammable, or remain active for longer – especially for spell-focused heroes like McGinnis, Mina, and Sinclair.

Active, Passive, and Cosmetic Items in Deadlock

In addition to providing stat bonuses, many Deadlock items feature powerful passive or active effects to strengthen your hero or abilities in battle.

Active Items

Active items grant extra temporary abilities or effects that require manual activation. Some items allow you to turn invisible or make your weapon fire multishot, while others can reset ability cooldowns or even grant you a brief window of invincibility!

For example, Unstoppable can be manually activated to temporarily suppress negative status effects and make you immune to stun, silence, sleep, root, and disarm. At the same time, Echo Shard resets the cooldown of an imbued non-ultimate ability.

You can equip up to four active items at a time from the Curiosity Shop. Each item binds to its own dedicated hotkey (by default, Z, X, C, or V), which you can rearrange as needed by holding either Tab or Alt and then dragging the item to a preferred slot.

Note: Active item abilities function independently from your hero abilities.

Passive Items

Passive items grant special buffs or effects that do not require manual activation. Instead, they remain continuously active while the item is equipped or trigger whenever specific conditions are met, like when you hit an enemy, take damage, or reach a certain health threshold.

For example, Transcendent Cooldown unconditionally reduces the cooldown of your abilities and items by 25% and provides +4 out-of-combat regen. On the other hand, Silencer applies a -25% spirit damage on-hit debuff to enemies for 6s and lets your bullets build up to a silence lasting 2.5s.

Passive items are especially powerful because the effects trigger automatically, modifying attacks or boosting your stats without any additional input during combat. There’s also no limit on the number of passive items you equip at once, meaning you can combo different effects freely.

Cosmetic Items

Cosmetic items are limited-time active items usually available during limited-time events.

Unlike regular items, cosmetic items are unlocked immediately for all players, provide no stats or bonuses, and do not occupy one of your 12 inventory slots. Instead, they are bound to the Cosmetic 1 hotkey (default: E).

Outside of limited-time events, you can test cosmetic items using the giveitem console command in The Atrium, Sandbox mode, or custom games with cheats enabled. For example, snowballs from the Winter Event can be added using the command giveitem cosmetic_item_snowball.

How To Drag, Place, and Manage Deadlock Items

When you purchase an item from the Curiosity Shop, it is automatically added to an available inventory slot.

After the Shop Rework Update on May 8, 2025, all inventory slots were made universal, meaning Weapon, Vitality, and Spirit items can no longer be manually placed into slots specific to their category.

Active items also occupy one of four dedicated hotkey slots, allowing you to activate their effects or abilities. You can rearrange active items by dragging them into another active slot, allowing you to organize your keybinds around the items you use most frequently.

You can also use Quick Buy to pre-plan purchases and organize the order in which items are bought. Simply drag and drop items into the queue and enable auto-buy to automatically purchase them whenever you have enough Souls and are in range of the Curiosity Shop.

Note: If your inventory is full, you’ll need to sell an existing item to free up a slot.

Pricing, Tiers, Refunds, and Souls-Based Stat Bonuses

Tiers and Pricing

In Deadlock, items are grouped into four tiers, with equal pricing per tier:

  • Tier 1 – 800 Souls
  • Tier 2 – 1,600 Souls
  • Tier 3 – 3,200 Souls
  • Tier 4 – 6,400 Souls

However, upgraded items are discounted, with any Souls already spent on the base components being deducted from the upgraded item’s cost. For example, the item Monster Rounds (800 Souls) builds into Cultist Sacrifice (3,200 Souls), so you’ll only pay the price difference of 2,400 Souls.

Refund Rules

Items can also be sold back to the Curiosity Shop for a 50%/100% refund in Deadlock.

Recently purchased items get a 100% refund, provided you do not use them or leave the shop area (i.e., the small yellow border area). This means you can easily sell an item if you made an accidental purchase. Beyond these conditions, items will be refunded for only 50% of their original value.

Note: If an item is a base component to multiple upgrades, you will only get a discount on the first upgraded item.

Souls Investments and Scaling Bonuses

When you purchase items with Souls, it increases your investment in the corresponding item category.

In simple terms, this means that buying Weapon, Vitality, and Spirit items will grant progressively stronger bonuses to weapon damage, health, or spirit power, respectively, based on the total value of the items owned in each category (up to 28,800 Souls).

Each category is calculated independently, with the investment bonuses applied on top of the benefits provided by the items themselves. Here’s an overview of the bonuses granted at each Soul investment threshold:

Spirit items enhance a hero’s abilities by granting bonus spirit power, additional ability charges, reduced cooldowns, and longer ability durations. Some items also provide passive or active effects.
