Call of Duty Player Count 2024

With the rerelease of Rebirth Island the Call Of Duty player count has seen an impressive jump to 166,772 peak daily players on Steam but it’s a far cry from the levels seen during the pandemic where the peak on Steam stood at 491,670.

Since its first entry in 2003, the series has exploded into numerous wartime scenarios, dipped its toes into the battle royale arena with Warzone, and even expanded into the mobile games space with COD Mobile. But how many people play Call of Duty in 2024?

This guide will detail the latest player stats for Modern Warfare III, Warzone 2, and Call of Duty: Mobile titles. We’ll also explore the game’s bustling Twitch scene and discuss whether MW3 is a “dead game” or not.

How Many People Play Call of Duty In 2024?

Activision does not publish player count stats for its games, which makes it challenging to determine the real Call of Duty player count in 2024. But that won’t stop us from trying to make an educated guess about the number of active users!

According to SteamDB, the average daily number of Call of Duty players is 67,458. At its peak, this number jumps to 89,523. It’s important to note that this statistic reflects the average number of gamers playing Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III and II and Warzone 2 at the start of May 2024.

However, it only includes PC users playing on Steam. This statistic does not account for active gamers joining from PlayStation 4|5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Battle.net. In this case, the real number of Call of Duty players is likely much higher.

The table below offers a detailed breakdown of the monthly players in Call of Duty on Steam:

MonthPeak Daily Players
April 2024166,772
March 2024119,484
February 2024154,491
January 2024144,934
December 2023162,148
November 2023*190,707
October 2023189,557
September 202388,628
August 2023112,483
July 202386,363
June 2023113,310
May 2023102,538
April 2023147,120
March 2023158,593

Please note: The Call of Duty player counts above reflect stats from SteamDB. *Modern Warfare III was released on Nov. 10, 2023.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III Player Count

It’s difficult to know precisely how many gamers play Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III, but the website ActivePlayer.io estimates that the game has an average of 559,127 average daily players in April 2024 and around 1.95 million in the month. It is also worth noting that in April 2024, Call of Duty rereleased the Rebirth Island resurgence map which saw many players go back to the game.

An important distinction from earlier is that these figures reflect MW3 players across all gameplay platforms. But is this data trustworthy? Maybe. ActivePlayer.io claims to pull data from numerous sources like Statista, Steam Charts, and Newzoo, offering some credence to these numbers.

Is MW3 A Dead Game?

Not exactly. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III has indeed struggled to maintain its player base and interest since launching on Nov. 10, 2023. A telling indicator of this decline is the comparison of its launch numbers with the game’s earlier predecessor.

MW3 had a peak player count of ~190,000 at launch, contrasting the 263,000 gamers that played Modern Warfare II during its launch weekend. In the two following months, the number of active players declined by 15% and 10%, respectively, and it’s clear evidence of waning enthusiasm.

However, to say that MW3 is a dead game is an exaggeration. The title still has a highly competitive esports scene and a thriving community of players. It may not compare in number to Counter-Strike 2, Dota 2, or VALORANT, but it wouldn’t be fair to say that it’s a dead game.

Warzone 2 Player Count

Again, it’s almost impossible to determine the exact number of people who play Warzone 2. However, estimates by ActivePlayer.io suggest that there are 66 million monthly users or at least 16,027,533 users at peak every day in April 2024. Most of these gamers are playing on PlayStation or Xbox consoles.

On April 10, 2021, the official Call of Duty X (formerly Twitter) account celebrated Warzone reaching a massive 100 million player milestone. While it’s unclear whether these numbers have dwindled or skyrocketed since then, it provides a rough estimate of how accurate the latest metrics are.

It’s difficult to know for sure, but Call of Duty: Warzone 2 has some of its biggest fans in these countries:

  • United States
  • China
  • Russia
  • Brazil
  • United Kingdom

Call of Duty: Mobile Player Count

According to ActivePlayer.io, Call of Duty: Mobile has an average of 73,036,987 monthly players, with a peak active daily player count of 19,719,986 between April 9 and May 8, 2024. The game has been downloaded more than 100 million times on Android and ranked second amongst all Action titles on the App Store.

Warzone 2 Twitch Viewer Counts

Call of Duty: Warzone 2 is the fourth most-streamed and ninth most-watched game on Twitch. And why aren’t we surprised? It’s buzzing with action and is loads of fun to play! Here are the latest stats for Warzone 2 on the platform:

  • Hours Watched: 32,393,226
  • Hours Broadcast: 2,824,191
  • Average Viewers: 44,990
  • Max Viewers: 100,839
