Twelve elite Counter-Strike Global Offensive teams are descending on Espoo, Finland this week to take their shot at $200,000 at Elisa Masters Espoo 2022. The tournament runs from November 16-20 and will feature both invited teams and the defending champions of the last four seasonal invitationals. 

The Elisa Masters is an annual Counter-Strike: Global Offensive tournament held in Espoo, Finland. The tournament was first held in 2016 and has been held every year since then. The tournament is organized by Elisa, a Finnish telecommunications company.

The tournament will be divided into two phases, the Studio phase on November 16 & 17 (12 teams in a closed studio environment), and the Arena phase from November 18-20 (6 teams in front of a live audience at the Espoo Arena).

The format for Elisa Masters Espoo 2022

Here’s the format that the tournament will follow. 

In the Group Stage, there will be two round-robin format groups, each with 6 teams. All matches are best-of-one.  The top three teams from each group advance to the Playoffs

Group stage winners advance to the Semifinals. Group stage runners-up advance to the Quarterfinals as the High Seeds. Group stage 3rd place teams advance to the Quarterfinals as the Low Seeds.

The Playoffs are a single-elimination bracket with all matches best-of-three. 

On Friday, November 18, the quarter-finals of the tournament will take place. The next day, Saturday, the semi-finals will take place. Well, on November 20, Sunday, the Elisa Masters Espoo 2022 Grand Final will take place at the Espoo Metro Arena.

There’s a total of $200,000 up for grabs in Espoo, with the payouts broken down like this:

1st place    –    $100,000

2nd place   –    $28,000

3rd place    –    $14,000

4th place    –    $14,000

5th place    –   $10,000

6th place    –   $10,000

7th place    –   $4,000

8th place    –   $4,000

9th place    –   $4,000

10th place  –   $4,000

11th place  –   $4,000

12th place  –   $4,000

Teams qualified for Elisa Masters Espoo 2022

As we mentioned above, 12 teams will participate in Elisa Masters Espoo 2022 – 8 invited teams and 4 winners of seasonal invitationals.

A ticket to Katowice is on the line!

Don’t forget that the players are chasing more than their share of the $200,000 prize pool! Elisa, the organizer of the tournament has partnered with ESL to promote the event and that means, on top of the prize money, the winners of Elisa Masters Espoo 2022 will get a place in the Play-In Stage of the Intel Extreme Masters (IEM) in Katowice in 2023! It doesn’t get any bigger than that and so tournaments like the one in Espoo take on another level of importance!
