VCT 2024 – China Stage 2 Schedule & Format

Running from June 15 to July 20, VCT 2024: China Stage 2 is an offline LAN event from Riot Games and TJ Sports that will be held at the Valo Arena in Shanghai, China. The event features two stages of competition: the Group Stage and the Playoffs Stage.

In the Group Stage, we’ll see two single round-robin groups, with five teams in Group Alpha and six in Group Omega. The Group Stage runs from June 15 to July 7, 2024. Each team’s VCT 2024: China Kickoff standing determines their Group Stage placement. All matches are best-of-three, and the top six teams (overall performance in Stages 1 and 2) earn their place in the Playoffs.

From July 17-21, we’ll see the top six teams compete in the Playoffs for one of three spots at the VALORANT Champion 2024 event. The Playoffs feature a hybrid bracket format. The first Knockout Round is single-elimination, and then for the semifinals and onward, the bracket changes to double-elimination. All matches in the VCT 2024: China Stage 2 Playoffs are best-of-three, except for the lower-bracket final and the Grand Final, which are both best-of-five.

Our Predictions For VCT 2024 – China Stage 2

At the VCT 2024: China Stage 2 event, there are some clear favorites in the top two positions, but the rest of the standings are wide open, with multiple contenders for that important third-place finish.

Please note: Our VCT 2024: China Stage 2 predictions are based on past results from Stage 1, Masters events, and a healthy dose of the author’s expert opinion. Never interpret these predictions as betting advice to act upon. Always gamble responsibly. You must be 18+ to play.

1. EDward Gaming

EDward Gaming is the top team in the region, having won the VCT 2024: China Kickoff and Stage 1 events. Odds indicate the squad should at least finish in the top three, and they have the strongest odds to win the entire event. EDward Gaming is currently 5-1 in the cross-stage group and made it to a 7th/8th place finish at VCT Masters Shanghai 2024, a solid achievement in its own right.

EDward Gaming roster:

  • Wan “CHICHOO” Shunzhi
  • Wang “nobody” Senxu
  • Zheng “ZmjjKK” Yongkang
  • Zhang “Smoggy” Zhao
  • Guo “Haodong” Haodong (IGL)
  • Tang “Muggle” Shijun (Sub)
  • Lo “AfteR” Wen-hsin (Coach)

2. FunPlus Phoenix

FunPlus Phoenix didn’t pass the Group Stage at the VCT Shanghai Masters 2024 tournament. Even so, their team form looks strong heading into this event, and they’re topping the cross-stage group with a clean 5-0 score. At the VCT 2024: China Kickoff and Stage 1, FunPlus Phoenix finished in second place behind EDward Gaming, and there’s no reason to believe Stage 2 will be any different.

FunPlus Phoenix roster:

  • Zhang “AAAAY” Yang
  • Liang “Lysoar” Youhao
  • Kale “autumn” Dunne
  • Qu “Life” Donghao
  • Chang “BerLIN” Po-lin (IGL)
  • Deng “NaThanD” Senqiao (Coach)
  • Hao “guigui” Wang (Coach)

3. Dragon Ranger Gaming

Based on their form and performances in Stage 1, Dragon Ranger Gaming (DRG) has a solid chance to claim a podium finish. The team fought their way through the Challengers Ascension 2023 event to claim a spot in the VCT 2024: China league, so it would be a magnificent storyline for the squad to make it through to Champions in their first year. For those keeping score, you can consider this our bold prediction.

Dragon Ranger Gaming roster:

  • Chen “TvirusLuke” Chen-ching
  • Ilya “vo0kashu” Ushakov
  • Wei “Dingwei” Ting-wei
  • Tang “TZH” Zhehao
  • Shao “Nicc” Yi-chun (IGL)
  • Wang “HaTo” Rui (Sub)
  • Zhang “Shion7” Haoze (Sub)
  • Huang “LT” Biaohong (Coach)
  • He “WudiYuChEn” Cai (Coach)

4. Trace Esports

Sorry, Trace Esports fans, but it’s not looking particularly great for this team. In fact, some are saying that they may miss out on a top-three finish at VCT 2024: China Stage 2. They’re currently in third position with a 3-2 score in the cross-stage group. However, in the VCT 2024: China Kickoff and Stage 1 event, Trace Esports finished in fourth place, losing out to DRG twice.

Trace Esports roster:

  • Song “FengF” Xuefeng
  • Lu “Kai” Zhinan
  • Cui “cxyy” Xinyu
  • Zhong “Biank” Jianfei
  • Zhang “LuoK1ng” Zhanpeng
  • Ho “HeiB” Shun-hei (IGL)
  • Gu “destroyeR” Jiaming (Coach)
  • Zhang “Yiyee” Tianyuan (Coach)

On June 11, 2024, Trace Esports parted ways with Yip “YoU” Man-ho and added Biank to the roster. With a change so close to the start of VCT 2024: China Stage 2, it’s unclear how well the team will gel.
