What is Starcraft 2?

Share this post:

Blizzard released Starcraft II on July 27, 2010. Starcraft emerged in 1998 as a science fiction-themed real-time strategy game. So, what is Starcraft 2 fully? Starcraft, which has had a significant impact on the game world since its debut, is still played today, and eSport tournaments are organized. The most important feature of StarCraft II is that it is free.

The multiplayer mode and some campaigns are free to play, and you can play with some characters up to level 15. At the same time, Starcraft II: Wings of Liberty, released in 2010, made a name for itself as the best-selling game of its era for many years.

Why Has It Lost Its Popularity?

Due to the updates that did not come for a long time, players decreased over time. In addition, Blizzard said in a statement that Starcraft II would not receive an extra content update as of October 2020. Currently, only balance patches and season rolls are applied to the game.

In short, Starcraft 2 is a strategy game where you can control three different races. You can use special abilities and units by choosing one of the Zerg, Terran and Protoss races. You can also produce mineral and vespene gas by employing your workers of the race of your choice. By spending these resources you have produced, you can build a strong army of your nation and destroy the opponent.

How to Play Starcraft 2?

As you know, Starcraft 2 is a game similar to Age of Empires, in a simple phrase, where you can develop tactics and races fight each other. Here we will explain how you can play Starcraft 2 and what is required to play Starcraft 2, step by step in a simple way. You will also learn about eSport matches.

  • Get to know the Zerg, Terran and Protoss races. Try to learn the pros and cons by finishing the campaigns.
  • Try to understand the economy of Starcraft. Minerals and vespene gas are the basic structure of the game economy. It may take us days to explain the economic system of Starcraft 2, but you can learn it by playing. For example, you are playing with Terrans. You cannot have a new base without building a command post. When the vespene and minerals in your area run out, you will have to move to another place. Likewise, Zerg must constantly spread. So it requires a lot of control area and is extremely difficult to play.
  •  Use cheap and fast units to explore your opponents and the map. Do not unnecessarily move your other units around on the map.
  • Learn to control the map. Try to guess where the enemy can place their bases.
  • Trade with your competitors like in LoL. If the opponent hurts your economy, you should respond with the same effect.
  • Constantly narrow the opponent. Launch attacks on their SCV, Drone or Probe to damage the opponent’s economy.
  • Start making preparations for a new place before you run out of vespene and minerals. So avoid playing with a single center as much as possible.

What is Starcraft 2 Campaign Collection?

Starcraft 2 has three expansions released. Each campaign has its own missions, dialogues, and story. If you are a new Starcraft player, you can easily learn the story from the beginning by playing these campaigns. However, if you want to know the story in more detail, you must first play Starcraft: Brood War because the Starcraft 2 trilogy takes place four years after this story.

The Starcraft 2 trilogy is as follows;

  1. Starcraft II: Wings of Liberty, The Terran Campaign

This campaign is focused on Terrans. It is an expansion that tells the story of Raynor’s Raiders and his forces. To complete this campaign, you need to play an average of 30-40 hours.
