Teams Competing In Worlds 2024

Twenty teams compete in Worlds 2024, with eight starting in the Play-In Stage and 12 starting in the Swiss Stage. These teams have all qualified via the respective regional leagues. You’ll find a list of the Play-In Stage and qualified Swiss Stage teams below, alongside their respective regional leagues.

Play-In Stage Teams:

  • PSG Talon (PCS)
  • Fukuoka SoftBank HAWKS (PCS)
  • GAM Esports (VCS)
  • Vikings Esports (VCS)
  • MAD Lions KOI (LEC)
  • Rainbow7 (LLA)
  • 100 Thieves (LCS)
  • paiN Gaming (CBLOL)

Swiss Stage Teams:

  • Gen.G Esports (LCK)
  • Dplus (LCK)
  • T1 (LCK)
  • Hanwha Life Esports (LCK)
  • Bilibili Gaming (LPL)
  • Top Esports (LPL)
  • LNG Esports (LPL)
  • Weibo Gaming (LPL)
  • FlyQuest (LCS)
  • Team Liquid (LCS)
  • G2 Esports (LEC)
  • Fnatic (LEC)

Gen.G Esports qualified for Worlds 2024 by winning the Mid-Season Invitational 2024, beating Bilibili Gaming 3-1 in the final round. The LPL has four slots instead of three this year because it was the best-performing region at MSI 2024.

Our Predictions For Worlds 2024

Anything can happen on the biggest LoL esports stage. No matter how experienced some players are, no one is immune to the pressure of the iconic world championship event. After all, to quote Master Yi, “A true master is an eternal student.”

Despite the unpredictable nature of the high-pressure Worlds 2024 event, we’ve risen to the occasion to bring you our predictions.

Please note: Our Worlds 2024 predictions are based on recent performances, considering player form, matchup histories, stats, odds, perceived strength of teams, and a healthy dose of the author’s expert opinion. Under no circumstances should you interpret this analysis as betting advice. Past performance does not guarantee future outcomes. Always gamble responsibly.

1. Gen.G Esports

The current Gen.G Esports roster has seen tremendous success, and part of that is the fact they’ve been together since Nov. 29, 2023. It should come as no surprise then that many LoL fans consider Gen.G as the favorite to win Worlds 2024.

Remember that this squad won LCK Spring 2024 and Mid-Season Invitational 2024, and they placed 2nd at LCK Summer 2024, losing 3-2 in the Grand Final against Hanwha Life Esports. Despite that loss over the summer, Gen.G remains the team to beat and has showcased incredible form throughout the year.

Gen.G Esports roster:

  • Kim “Kiin” Gi-in (Top)
  • Jeong “Chovy” Ji-hoon (Mid)
  • Kim “Canyon” Geon-bu (Jungle)
  • Kim “Peyz” Su-hwan (Bot)
  • Son “Lehends” Si-woo (Support)
  • Cho “Mata” Se-hyeong (Coach/Sub)
  • Kwon “Helper” Young-jae (Coach)
  • Kim “Kim” Jung-su (Coach)

The only player on the roster to lift the Summoner’s Cup is Jungle player Canyon, who won Worlds 2020 with DAMWON Gaming (now known as Dplus KIA).

2. T1

Odds indicate that T1 is roughly the 5th or 6th favorite to win Worlds 2024, so why do we have the squad in 2nd place? Because at a major event like this, you simply can’t count out T1. With the GOAT of LoL esports, Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok, on their side, T1 has won Worlds four times and MSI twice.

T1 has consistently produced stunning performances on the biggest stage over the years. That said, some question marks hover over their current form, as they qualified for Worlds 2024 by the skin of their teeth, beating KT Rolster 3-2 at the LCK Finals. Despite recent performances, T1 is the defending champion, so it’s difficult to overlook their potential.

T1 roster:

  • Choi “Zeus” Woo-je (Top)
  • Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok (Mid)
  • Mun “Oner” Hyeon-jun (Jungle)
  • Lee “Gumayusi” Min-hyung (Bot)
  • Ryu “Keria” Min-seok (Support)
  • Kim “Roach” Kang-hui (Coach)
  • Im “Tom” Jae-hyeon (Coach)
  • Kim “kkOma” Jeong-gyun (Coach)

3. Bilibili Gaming

Bilibili Gaming won LPL Spring’s Grand Final 3-1 over Top Esports and then swept Weibo Gaming under the rug at LPL Summer. The Chinese powerhouse squad also earned a top-four finish at Worlds 2023 and placed 2nd at MSI 2024, showing consistency and form.

At the time of writing, Bilibili Gaming is still determining whether XUN or Wei will act as their main jungler at Worlds 2024. Wei joined the squad on July 10, 2024, and won LPL Summer 2024 at the end of August. In any case, odds indicate that Bilibili Gaming can earn a podium finish, with roughly the same chances of winning the event as Gen.G.

Bilibili Gaming roster:

  • Chen “Bin” Zebin (Top)
  • Zhuo “knight” Ding (Mid)
  • Yan “Wei” Yangwei (Jungle)
  • Peng “XUN” Lixun (Jungle)
  • Zhao “Elk” Jiahao (Bot)
  • Luo “ON” Wenjun (Support)
  • Zuo “LvMao” Minghao (Sub/Support)
  • Fu “BigWei” Chien-wei (Coach)
  • Chen “Xiasu” Long (Coach)
  • Lee “Easyhoon” Ji-hoon (Coach)

4. G2 Esports

Sitting comfortably on top of the LEC region, G2 Esports has continued to improve throughout the year, winning LEC Winter, Spring, and Summer events—and the LEC 2024 Finals with ease. Across the four best-of-five Grand Finals, the squad has an incredible 12-3 record.

While LEC isn’t the strongest region in LoL esports, G2 proved they can compete with the best of the best at MSI 2024 with a 4th-place finish, losing to the legendary T1. Tournament outright winner odds indicate that G2 is below eight other teams from LCK and LPL, so consider a top-four finish our bold prediction.

G2 Esports roster:

  • Sergen “BrokenBlade” Çelik (Top)
  • Rasmus “Caps” Winther (Mid)
  • Martin “Yike” Sundelin (Jungle)
  • Steven “Hans Sama” Liv (Bot)
  • Mihael “Mikyx” Mehle (Support)
  • Christopher “Duffman” Duff (Coach)
  • Dylan Falco (Coach)

If you’re looking for some alternative picks, keep an eye on Top Esports, Hanwha Life Esports, LNG Esports, Weibo Gaming, and Team Liquid at Worlds 2024.
