League of Legends heads back to the Esports World Cup 2026 (EWC), and it arrives with a $2 million bounty. Held right after MSI, this year’s expanded format makes it even more cutthroat, leaving absolutely no room for error as teams collide for global supremacy on the world’s biggest stage.

Here’s everything you need to know about EWC 2026 League of Legends, including the schedule, format, teams, prize pool distribution, plus expert betting predictions to help you back your picks.

Esports World Cup 2026 League of Legends Schedule & Format

The League of Legends portion of the Esports World Cup 2026 is set for July 15–19, 2026, and will be held at the historic Paris Expo Porte de Versailles exhibition center in Paris.

The Group Stage will have four double-elimination GSL groups. To ensure a fair distribution, each group will contain no more than one team from each region, seeded as follows:

SeedingTeams
Pool 1HLE (LCK #1), TSW (LCP #1), G2 (LEC #1), BLG (LPL #1)
Pool 2AG.AL (CN #1), T1 (KR #1), LYON (LCS #1), GEN (EWC 2025)

Pool 4FUR (CBLOL #1), MKOI (EU #2), SEN (NA #1), MIBR.LOS (SA #1)

In the opening round, Pool 1 teams will face Pool 4, while Pool 2 will go against Pool 3. Except for the best-of-three elimination matches, every match will be played as a best-of-one series. The top two teams in each group will qualify for the Playoffs, and all remaining teams will be eliminated.

The Playoffs follow a single-elimination bracket format and will include a third-place decider. All matches will be played as best-of-three series, except for the Grand Final, which will culminate in a best-of-five showdown for the EWC 2026 League of Legends championship title.

Our Predictions For EWC 2026 League of Legends

The EWC 2026 League of Legends outright market is incredibly difficult to call. Even so, the following teams have repeatedly delivered at the highest level and stand out as the tournament’s strongest candidates.

Important: These predictions reflect the perceived strength of teams based on historical trends and the latest available odds. This analysis should not be interpreted as betting advice. Past performance does not guarantee future outcomes. Always gamble responsibly.

Bilibili Gaming (#1)

Bilibili Gaming (#1 GPR) is our favorite pick going into EWC 2026.

The Chinese juggernauts have been practically unstoppable, posting an exceptional 34–8 record (81.0% win rate) and riding incredible form. They demolished the domestic split, finishing 1st in both LPL Split 1 and Split 2, before carrying that momentum internationally by winning the First Stand title.

Despite a heartbreaking 2nd-place finish at the Mid-Season Invitational, BLG still looked terrifying from the outset when they defeated T1 3–2, LYON 3–0, and HLE 3–1 en route to the Grand Final. They then narrowly lost 3–2 to HLE in a brutal 6.5-hour marathon, ending their Golden Road bid.

The outright odds of 4.50 (+350) give BLG a 22.2% implied probability of victory, and they’re only a touch lower than Gen.G and HLE at odds of 4.00 (+300) to win it all.

Bilibili Gaming roster:

  • Chen “Bin” Ze-Bin
  • Peng “Xun” Li-Xun
  • Zhuo “Knight” Ding
  • Park “Viper” Do-hyeon
  • Luo “ON” Wen-Jun
  • Yang “Daeny” Dae-in (Coach)

Hanwha Life Esports (#2)

Hanwha Life Esports (#2 GPR) is our #2 pick ahead of the LOL event at this year’s EWC, with a 22–7 record (75.9% win rate) anchoring them as one of the tournament’s strongest teams.

After a disappointing 10th-place finish in the LCK Cup earlier this year, HLE recently triumphed on home soil in Daejeon. They swept Secret Whales and G2 3–0, but a 1–3 loss to BLG dropped them into the lower bracket. From there, they scraped a shaky 3–2 win against LYON before narrowly beating BLG 3–2 to claim the MSI title.

While the ex-T1 duo of Zeus and Gumayusi makes HLE especially dangerous, occasional draft issues and over-aggression have cost them early leads. Still, the team’s adaptability, teamfighting, and grit are convincing enough to keep them in the title conversation.

At identical odds of 2.25 (+125), HLE and Gen.G each carry a 44.4% implied probability of reaching the Final.

Hanwha Life Esports roster:

  • Choi “Zeus” Woo-je
  • Seo “Kanavi” Jin-hyeok
  • Kim “Zeka” Geon-woo
  • Lee “Gumayusi” Min-hyeong
  • Yoo “Delight” Hwan-joong
  • Yoon “Homme” Sung-young (Coach)

Gen.G (#3)

Defending champion Gen.G (#3 GPR) is our #3 pick to claim the title.

After a godlike run last year, Gen.G started their 2026 campaign strong, finishing 1st at LCK Cup 2026 and 3rd–4th at First Stand. They eventually were outpaced by T1 in a close 3–2 series in the LCK Road to MSI, finishing in third and snuffing out any hope of a three-peat.

Gen.G’s failure to qualify for MSI was a rare but notable disappointment, especially for a team with their pedigree. While they lack the same “explosive” upside as BLG and HLE right now, the Korean powerhouse has built a reputation for responding to setbacks, with EWC offering the perfect shot at redemption.

With a championship-caliber lineup and a favorable group stage draw (arguably the easiest on paper), Gen.G has a clean runway to build momentum and hit their stride into the Playoffs.

Gen.G roster:

  • Kim “Kiin” Gi-in
  • Kim “Canyon” Geon-bu
  • Jeong “Chovy” Ji-hoon
  • Park “Ruler” Jae-hyuk
  • Joo “Duro” Min-kyu
  • Ryu “Ryu” Sang-wook (Coach)
