Dota 2 has faced constant tournament delays over the past year. Finally, the postponement of the First Major greatly upset Dota 2 Esports fans. However, Valve won’t delay Dota 2’s first big event this year too long. While the dates show 12 and 22 May, the world’s best 18 Dota teams are preparing for fierce competition at Stockholm Hovet Arena.

Teams have qualified from the Western Europe, China, Southeast Asia, Eastern Europe, North America and South America DPC qualifiers. In short, the teams that have managed to be the best in their own region will fight to be the best in the world.

Whatever the outcome, we know that exciting days are approaching for Esports lovers. Because there is a huge prize pool of $500,000. Moreover, the team that succeeds in being the first will win a total of $200,000 in prize money. Considering all these, we should be able to predict how high the competition will be.

Now let’s take a look at the other details of ESL One Stockholm 2022. And so you can learn about the format and teams of the Dota 2 First Major before betting on the tournament. Let’s start then!

Format

As we mentioned at the beginning of our article, a total of 14 teams will compete in the tournament. However, under normal conditions, 18 teams had to fight. The Chinese teams, unable to travel to Stockholm, forced the structure of the tournament to change. However, the Chinese teams will hold a regional final among themselves and compete for the DPC CN Tour 2. Now, let’s take a step-by-step look at the format of the Dota 2 First Major 2022.

Group Stage – May 12th – May 17th, 2022

  • A total of 14 teams will take part in the tournament. And the teams will start the fight by dividing into two groups of 7 each.
  • Every match in the group stages was scheduled as Bo2. In the same way, the single round-robin system will be used.
  • The top four teams to be the best from both groups will be promoted to the upper bracket.
  • Likewise, teams ranked 5th and 6th from both groups qualify for the playoffs’ lower bracket.
  • The remaining teams are completely eliminated from the tournament.

Playoffs – May 18th – May 22nd, 2022

  • Double-elimination bracket.
  • A total of 12 teams will qualify for the Playoffs. 8 of them will start in the upper bracket and the other 4 teams will start in the lower bracket.
  • All matches except the grand final will be played as Bo3. The grand finale will be held as Bo5.
  • At this point, the first team will receive $200,000, the second $100,000, the third $75,000, and the fourth place will receive $50,000.
  • In addition to the prize money, DPC points, which are of great importance to The International, will also be distributed in the First Major. Accordingly, the first team will have 3530 DPC points. And it will become one of the favorite teams of TI 11.

Teams

In order to participate in the Dota 2 Major tournaments, teams must also be at the top of the regional leagues. 3 Favorite Teams for the Dota 2 First Major

We have been witnessing a fierce competition since the first day of the DPC season. We followed the statistics of the teams, especially during the league process up to the First Major. And we will try to present you the 3 favorite teams of the tournament according to the performance details. But remember that Dota 2 is a game full of surprises and even the strongest team can lose a match. However, we find it logical to rank according to the performance of the players and teams.

1. OG

OG is a European based Esports organization. I think everyone who knows a little bit about Dota 2 knows OG. As you know, OG is known for dominating The International tournaments. They have left their mark on Dota’s Esports arena as champions of TI 2019 and 2017. However, with 2021, the team collapsed due to the crises. However, they have managed to remind us of their names again, with the success they have had one after the other recently.

OG Roster

  • Yuragi
  • Bzm
  • ATF
  • Taiga
  • Misha

2. Evil Geniuses

Evil Geniuses has been one of the favorite teams of the International tournament held every year. They seem to be a team that will undoubtedly be among our favourites, this year as well. In the last few weeks, they have managed to attract attention due to their consecutive wins in DPC NA. Their past successes are evident. As you know, TI 2018 and 2016 third place and 2015 first place are some of EG’s memorable achievements.

We strongly recommend that you pay attention to Evil Geniuses, especially if you are going to bet on Dota 2 in the First Major. Because they are too focused and team chemistry seems to be at a high level. If you look at their last matches, you will agree with what we said.

Evil Geniuses Roster

3. Team Spirit

Team Spirit is a Russia-based Esports organization. We, Dota 2 fans, know Team Spirit for their great achievements at The International 2021. Although they were not the favorites of the tournament, they won the cup by beating their rivals PSG.LGD with a score of 3-2. After 1 year, Team Spirit is determined to take the throne again. Under the leadership of young player Mira and captain Miposhka, the team is getting ready to enter the Dota stage again.

Want to give Team Spirit a chance by betting on ESL One Stockholm 2022? In that case, we would like to remind you that you can benefit from many Esport bonuses and promotions, especially Cashback. Good luck!
