The ALGS Year 4 Championship includes three stages of competition.
Group Stage
The Group Stage kicks off on Jan. 29 and 30. In this stage, the 40 teams are divided into four groups of 10, competing in a round-robin format against the other groups. Every team plays three Match Series (18 games). When the dust settles, the top 20 teams advance to the Winners Round, and the bottom 20 advance to Elimination Round 1 of the Bracket Stage.
Elimination Round 1
On Jan. 31, the Bracket Stage begins with the Elimination Round 1, where 20 teams compete in a Match Series of six games. The top 10 teams advance to the Elimination Round 2, and the bottom 10 teams are eliminated.
Winners Round & Elimination Round 2
On Feb. 1, the action begins with the Winners Round, where 20 teams compete in a Match Series for 10 spots in the Finals, and the remaining teams get one last shot in the Elimination Round 2. Once the Winners Round wraps up, 20 teams face off in Elimination Round 2 on Feb. 1. The top 10 advance to the Finals while the bottom 10 are sent packing.
Finals Stage
The tournament concludes on Feb. 2 when 20 teams face off with hopes of earning their share of the $2 million prize pool in the Finals Stage. This stage features a Match-Point format, with the winner being the first team to earn 50 points and then finish first in a match. The remaining teams will be ranked from 2nd to 19th place based on points earned during the series.

Our ALGS Year 4 Championship Predictions
Battle royales are unpredictable by nature, and even the best teams can get unlucky. For example, the highest-rated team can get sandwiched between four others in a firefight and eliminated early. This all makes predicting the outcome of the ALGS Year 4 Championship challenging but also utterly thrilling, so let’s get started!
Please note: Our ALGS Year 4 Championship predictions take past results from the 2024 season, roster changes, team synergy, and player form into consideration, with a healthy dose of the author’s expert opinion sprinkled in for good measure. You should, however, not interpret this analysis as betting advice to act upon. Always gamble responsibly.
Moist Esports
Our top pick for the ALGS Year 4 Championship event is Moist Esports. As one of the favorites, this team has a killer roster led by Australian captain Emtee, previously from Guild Esports. Fans may also notice the addition of two US superstars, Koyful and Xynew, who won the ALGS Split 2 Playoffs under the Spacestation Gaming banner. Both joined Moist Esports on Sept. 29, 2024. With an experienced captain and two champions on its roster, this is the team to beat.
Moist Esports roster:
- Israel “Koyful” Lawrence
- Brody “Xynew” Geissler
- Matthew “Emtee” Trengove (Captain)
- Abas “Don” Adam (Coach)
TSM
There’s no denying that TSM is one of the best Apex Legends teams in the world. Two of their players, Reps and Verhulst, became world champions when they won the ALGS 2023 Championship. They also placed first in the ALGS 2023 Split 1 Playoffs. While TSM hasn’t brought home any S-Tier trophies in the 2024 season, the US side continues to place close to the top of most events. Odds indicate that TSM is one of the favorites to win it all.
TSM roster:
- Jordan “Reps” Wolfe
- Evan “Verhulst” Verhulst
- Nelson “zap” Bangs
- Payton “Talmadge” Koski (Coach)
Alliance
Alliance’s international roster is on fire. They won the Esports World Cup in August 2024 and placed third in the Split 2 Playoffs in September. Part of the reason for their success is the experience of Hakis and Effect, who have played together since November 2022. They’re now joined by the recently signed Austrian talent unlucky, making Alliance a strong contender for the throne.
Alliance roster:
- Miron “Effect” Novikov
- Andre “unlucky” Türk
- John “Hakis” Håkansson (Captain)
- Martin Heggøy “Pjeh” Aamyri (Coach)
- Alexander “Noth” Selfwin (Coach)
Fnatic
Few teams can match the raw firepower of Fnatic’s Japanese roster, which has dominated the Asia-Pacific region for two years in a row. They also earned impressive results in the significant Apex Legends esports events of 2024, including 3rd place at the Split 1 Playoffs and 6th place at the Split 2 Playoffs. A promising new addition to the roster is Meltstera, who replaces Satoki “satuki” Sugatani. As strong as this team is, we left Fnatic out of the top three because they currently don’t have a coach following Shota “MUSCLE” Inaba’s departure in September 2024.
Fnatic roster:
- Takamasa “Meltstera” Kawai
- Yuga “YukaF” Horie
- Rei “Lykq” Yokoyama (Captain)
- Kazuhide “GuNBoY” Kawamura (Team Manager)
Who Will Be Crowned The ALGS Year 4 Champ?
Like we said before, the outcome of a battle royale game is incredibly difficult to predict. While it takes plenty of skill to excel in these games, you can also easily fall victim to bad luck by landing in the wrong place at the wrong time. Or you simply don’t get to the better weapon quickly enough, so you’re left trying to punch someone armed with EVA-8 or R-99. This is why it’s really anyone’s game when it comes to the ALGS Year 4 Championship! It’s also why we can’t wait to watch it all unfold later this month.
