One of the year’s S-Tier events for Dota 2, PGL Wallachia Season 5 is considered a highly intriguing precursor to the two biggest tournaments of the calendar year. Some of the best teams in the world will be there, and we’ll likely witness squads testing new tactics ahead of the Esports World Cup and The International 2025.
In this guide, we’ve outlined every detail of PGL Wallachia Season 5, including the tournament format, schedule, prize pool distribution, the teams, and our predictions for who could end up on the podium.
PGL Wallachia Season 5 Schedule & Format
PGL Wallachia Season 5 is a LAN event taking place behind closed doors at the PGL Studios venue in Bucharest, Romania. The tournament takes place from June 21 to 29, spanning two stages of competition.
It all kicks off with the Group Stage, featuring one giant group of all 16 teams competing in a modified Swiss System format. All matches are best-of-three, with the top eight teams advancing to the Playoffs. The rest of the competitors are eliminated.
Following the Group Stage, Dota 2 fans will be treated to an exciting double-elimination Playoffs Stage. All matches here are best-of-three, except for the best-of-five Grand Final.

Our Predictions For PGL Wallachia Season 5
We considered several factors to make our predictions for PGL Wallachia Season 5, including recent tournaments, team/player form, and matchup histories. Let’s dive in!
Important: These predictions reflect the perceived strength of teams based on historical trends and the latest available odds. This analysis should not be interpreted as betting advice. Past performance does not guarantee future outcomes. Always gamble responsibly.
Tundra Esports
With five S-Tier Grand Finals under their belt in 2025 so far, Tundra Esports looks set to dominate PGL Wallachia Season 5. Why? Because their record is undeniable. Earlier in the year, the squad won FISSURE PLAYGROUND 1 and BLAST Slam II. They also placed 2nd at DreamLeague Season 25 and PGL Wallachia Season 3, showing immense consistency.
Tundra Esports has momentum, too, following their impressive 3-1 win over Team Falcons at BLAST Slam III in Copenhagen. That’s why we think legendary offlaner 33 can lead his team straight to the PGL Wallachia S5 trophy!
Tundra Esports roster:
- Remco “Crystallis” Arets
- Bozhidar “bzm” Bogdanov
- Neta “33” Shapira (Captain)
- Martin “Saksa” Sazdov
- Matthew “Whitemon” Filemon
- David “MoonMeander” Tan (Coach)
Team Liquid
Team Liquid may not be the highest-ranked squad at the event—they’re 5th place on the ESL Pro Tour (EPT) leaderboard—but they’re the defending champions. You may recall that they won both Season 3 and 4 of the PGL Wallachia series.
With a direct invite to The International 2025 and the Esports World Cup secured, Team Liquid is poised to show off some exciting tactics during Season 5. The question is, can the squad bounce back from an early exit at BLAST Slam III? Captain miCKe’s form indicates a resounding “yes.”
Team Liquid roster:
- Michael “miCKe” Vu (Captain)
- Michał “Nisha” Jankowski
- Jonáš “SabeRLight” Volek
- Samuel “Boxi” Svahn
- Aydin “Insania” Sarkohi
- William “Blitz” Lee (Coach)
Team Spirit
Team Spirit sit comfortably in third place on the EPT leaderboard and are considered one of the best teams in the world right now. With offlaner Collapse showcasing tremendous form and carry player Yatoro killing it in the safelane, Team Spirit has a strong shot at a podium finish.
The squad has played well in 2025 so far. They placed 3rd/4th at BLAST Slam III, won DreamLeague Season 25 after a 3-2 slugfest against Tundra Esports, and finished in 2nd place at ESL One Raleigh 2025.
Team Spirit roster:
- Muliarchuk “Yatoro” Illia
- Sigitov “Larl” Denis
- Khalilov “Collapse” Magomed
- Filin “rue” Alexander
- Naidenov “Miposhka” Iaroslav (Captain)
- Gaziev “Silent” Ayrat (Coach)
BetBoom Team
BetBoom Team is the highest-ranked squad at PGL Wallachia Season 5 in spite of some inconsistencies in performance. However, if the team can pull off some solid drafts, they have a ton of potential.
Like the other teams we’ve mentioned, BetBoom’s 2025 run has been impressive so far. They pulled off a beautiful win at FISSURE Universe: Episode 4 and earned a highly respectable 2nd place finish at DreamLeague Season 26. We’d be shocked if this crew doesn’t finish in the top four, especially with gpk playing so well in the midlane.
BetBoom Team roster:
- Ivan “Pure” Moskalenko
- Danil “gpk” Skutin
- Matvey “MieRo” Vasyunin
- Vitalie “Save-” Melnic (Captain)
- Vladislav “Kataomi`” Semenov
- Anatoly “boolk” Ivanov (Coach)
Honorable mentions go to HEROIC and Xtreme Gaming. Both squads recently claimed coveted spots at The International 2025 by winning their regional Closed Qualifier.

Does Team Liquid have what it takes to win three Wallachia seasons in a row? Or will they be taken down by one of the top-ranked teams we mentioned? We’re also curious if Chinese Dota can make a comeback through either Xtreme Gaming or All Gamers Global claiming a top spot. In any case, we can’t wait to see which team claws its way to the top at PGL Wallachia Season 5!
